KH findings of the existing challenges while rendering healthcare services in Bangladesh (which is common in many LMICs)

Challenge 01

Lack of Coordination in rendering healthcare services standardization & Synchronization in medical management workflow process

• 1.There is no standardized process in patients’ vitals recording.
• 2.Absence of electronic medical record
• 3.No standardization in medical history taking.

Absence of electronic medical record management

• 1.Absence of prescription management system and no instant access for the patient and/or for the clinician 
• 2.No Instant access to previous lab results
• 3.No instant access to patient’s medical hist/ vaccination records

Care Management

• 1.There is no formalized workflow process for coordination among the physicians of different specialties.
• 2.There is no easier way to review the drug interaction.
• 3.Preventive care, early detection is not appropriately managed due to the unavailability of a platform
• 2.Unavailability of quality-of-care metrics.

Challenge 04

Absence of instant knowledge/resource sharing with senior physicians (local and international)  

• 1.Absence of knowledge sharing platform. 
• 2.It was very difficult for a physician at a remote area to get Realtime help/ 2nd opinion in a structured manner from a
• 3.senior physicians/ specialist 

KH Solution to the problem: KH collaboration platform enables physicians and clinicians to collaborate using KH secured platform (video conferencing, secured email/ live chat etc.)

Challenge 05

Transportation/ logistics of / access to pathological/ diagnostics lab  

• 1.Patient in the remote areas do not have access to the labs.
• 2.It is very time consuming and troublesome for a patient to travel 4 hours one way to go to a hospital or a lab

KH Solution to the problem:KH specimen collection system uses the model of uber/pathao in the healthcare space. KH empowers local logistics/ transportation facilities utilises unused/underutilized/ idle   resources in remote areas for specimen collection and brings local labs under the EMR system. It just doesn’t help the patients but also creates jobs as well. 

Challenge 06

Cost of care  

• 1.High cost due to lack of information about medical history, medical record, lab access and quick availability of the test results   

KH Solution to the problem: KH has greatly reduced the cost of care increase patient satisfaction by providing the total solution.
